From the Pastor’s Study…

                                                                                                             th
I am feeling pretty excited. In just a couple of weeks we will be celebrating the 40
anniversary of our building by rededicating it to the glory of God in worship on August
5, 2018. It’s a little like waiting for Christmas to get here!! The anticipating is killing
me and I feel like I am five again!

I feel so honored to have the opportunity to preside at this historic event in the life of
Trinity and I am thrilled to be able to do so at the side of our Bishop, the Reverend Jeff
Clements. Together, as part of our regular worship, we will engage in a time of rededi-
cating the font where we baptize, the altar where the sacrament is held, and the ambo
where God’s word is read. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

Besides the obvious thrill of engaging in this time of rededication, not just for me, but
for all of us at Trinity, I think it is also a wonderful time to reflect on our life together. It
creates an opportunity to pause and not only remember our past history as the church
and how our building plays such an important role in that history these past 40 years,
but to also ponder what God is calling us to be about for the next forty years. God not
only uses God’s people to do God’s work in the world, but God also uses other tools
such as our building, our grounds and everything in and on our property. Our building
has been an important tool to do the ministry we are called to do and I suspect it will
be an important tool in our future.

The trick though of course is to not only understand that the building is a tool, not a
ministry in and of itself, but is also where we gather to worship and to discuss and
then organize how we are going to do ministry outside of the building. Our building of
course should never be a place we just go to on Sundays and then move on with our
week as though it has no impact on our lives. Our building is the place we are trans-
formed and sustained and from where we are sent. It is not a final destination in and
        of itself.

So with our rededication just around the corner, I hope you will join me in being inten-
tional about pondering the ways God might be calling us out into the world to spread
the Good News of Jesus Christ. Join me please, in rededicating yourself to this im-
        portant work in the world!!
