Passing of Former Taoiseach
Anne O Mahony Ryan
Submitted by Linda McConnell Baker
The O Mahony Society learned of the death of former
(and first woman) Taoiseach Anne O Mahony Ryan and
send sincere condolences to her family.
Serving on the Council for many years and Taoiseach
in 1988 and 1989, many will remember her passion, her
many strengths, and her tenacity. Always full of ideas,
she was as articulate as she was keen. This writer had
the opportunity to sit with her at our annual dinner in
Schull several years ago, and she kept the conversation
going with riveting thoughts and interesting information.
We thank Anne for her years of dedicated service to
the Society. Hers was a strength and presence few of us
will ever forget.
Her published obituary follows.
