In terms of increasing housing supply, Major Urban Housing Development Schemes (MUHDS) with the capacity to deliver 30,000 new homes in the medium term have been identified in the Greater Dublin Area, Cork, Limerick and Galway by DHPLG, in close collaboration with local authorities and the Department’s new Housing Delivery Office for accelerated delivery.
What is the MUHDS programme?
FEATURE Rebuilding Ireland
In some locations, both LIHAF and MUHDS projects are taking place.
These story maps highlight the infrastructure delivery under Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF) and the associated housing delivery for Major Urban Housing Delivery Sites (MUHDS) and LIHAF projects, as they progress from 2017 to 2021.
MUDHS & LIHAF Story Maps
The map in Figure 1 below shows the locations around the country where developments are taking place to build infrastructure and deliver housing options.
There are individual story maps for each LIHAF project location; this will be updated in the future to include MUHDS sites also.
This is a live system and each story map will be continuously updated as the LIHAF projects and MUHDS strategic sites move from green and brown field sites into infrastructure and ultimately LIHAF funded housing delivery of approximately 20,000 homes by 2021.
To give an idea of the work of the various projects, Council Journal has taken a snapshot of some of the work being undertaken and reproduced their status below.
