RE: REPRESENTATIVE ASSOCIATIONS
The success of the new representative structures will depend on all concerned having the right attitude and approach which must in turn be based on mutual trust, cooperation and under- standing. In addition, it is essential that individuals of capacity and ability are encouraged to participate in the representative associations in order to maximize the benefit both military authorities and Permanent Defence Force personnel derive from them. Accordingly, elected representatives are categorically assured that they will not be at any disadvantage or discrimi- nated against in terms of their military careers as a result of their carrying out representative duties.
The framework within which the representative structure will operate has now been put in place and all personnel involved in the operation of the new arrangements should ensure that these work smoothly and efficiently so that the full benefit of this initiative is reaped.
