Introducing Dr. Shahram (Sean) Shekib, DDS,
FAGD, FICD, FAADS, FPFA, FACD, JD

A truly special individual, Dr. Sean Shekib
has been a tremendous asset to the New
York State AGD. Sean makes everything
that he accomplishes look easy. In the past
year alone, he has served as the Chair of the
Dental Education Committee, ushering in the
ZOOM age, a feat resulting in more hours
of continuing education and a more diverse The NYSAGD Board of Trustees
selection of topics for our members than at any
other period in our history. On top of this, Sean Cordially Invite You to
served as President-Elect of the NYSAGD. As
if this were not enough, Sean also completed his Juris Doctor degree
requirements at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, making him one of The Annual Installation of Officers
the rarest of species - an individual with dual degrees in Dentistry and

A man of great vision and persistence, Sean has had to overcome many Colbeh Restaurant
obstacles in his life. Born and raised in Iran, Sean and his family
suffered serious religious persecution following the Iranian revolution. 75 N. Station Plaza
The stress of this discrimination, combined with the premature death Great Neck, NY 11021
of his father, a practicing physician, caused major upheavals in his
family. At the age of nineteen, he initiated the emigration process,
eventually leading to his admission to the United States. Once settled
here, and imbued with a love of learning encouraged by his mother, Installation & Reception 7:30pm
an educator, Sean single-mindedly pursued his education. Again, new
obstacles stood in the way: a new language and a new culture. But
Sean threw himself into his studies, successfully completing college INSTALLING OUR
courses at Yeshiva University in his second language, English, and 2022 OFFICERS
in an unfamiliar environment. Not stopping there, Sean continued
on, studying dentistry at the Columbia University College of Dental
Medicine.

After graduating from Columbia in 1996, Sean completed a General
Practice Residency at Flushing Hospital and pursued coursework in FICD, FAADS, FPFA, FACD
the field of lasers, implants, aesthetics, full mouth restorations and
orthodontics. His curriculum vitae reads like a veritable chart of dental President
subjects. Over the years, Sean has been awarded fellowships by the
American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the
American Academy of Dental Science and the International College of Analia Veitz-Keenan, DDS
Dentists, to name a few. President Elect

Sean is also a Clinical Evaluator at Clinical Research Associates
(“CRA”), a Clinical Assistant Professor at Columbia University Seonha Park, DDS, FAGD
College of Dental Medicine, and as well the President of the Doctor’s
Club Foundation, Inc., where he prepares international dentists and Vice President
dental students for various clinical admission tests.

Besides his numerous formal accomplishments, Sean has a deeply Berry Stahl, DDS
compassionate heart, giving of himself without expectation of Secretary
recognition or return to family, friends, colleagues, students, and
community members. It comes as no surprise, then, that Sean has
trained as an Emergency Medical Technician (“EMT”) and a NYC
Auxiliary Police Officer, serving our local community in these
capacities as well. In addition, Sean is a proud recipient of the RSVP at WWW.NYSAGD.ORG
President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, granted by the Office of the

Grateful for the continuing benefits of his leadership and selfless
dedication, we look forward to Sean’s January 2022 induction as
President of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry, and to
all that certainly will be accomplished during his term.
