CSI Dallas Chapter Member
In 2018 Marilyn Hayes, CSI Dallas Chapter member for 9 years
has received the prestigious Continental Societies, Inc. Regional
Helen Lawrence Burnett Leadership Award. The late Helen Law-
rence Burnett was an outstanding person & leader within the
Continental Societies, Inc. organization. This leadership award in
her name is awarded to the CSI member who has showcased the
epitome of leadership. And we are proud to say Marilyn fits this
description and then some. Let’s take a walk into Marilyn’s
many accomplishments that earned her this
prestigious award:

Served as Recording Secretary for 4 years
Served as Recreation Chair for 4 years
Coordinated the first Kidz Get Fit activity
Co-Chair of Mardi Gras Fundraiser for 2 years
Participated with African American Read-In
Winner of the CSI Rookie of the year award
Regional Level for Continental Societies, Inc.

Served as Recording Secretary for 4 years

Served on Scholarship Committee
National level for Continental Societies, Inc.
Served as CSI Dallas Chapter alternate delegate 2015 & 2016
Served as CSI Dallas Chapter delegate in 2017
Marilyn is member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, worked
with the children and youth at her church and has been member
of the Women’s choir and held office in the Women ministry. As
an educator, Marilyn uses her Bachelor Degree in therapeutic
recreation from Jackson State University to serve
children. On a personal level Marilyn has been mar-
ried to her husband Johnny for 27 years and they
have one son Jonathan who has made them very
proud and is attending Jackson State University.
As you can see Marilyn is a great leader and is
deserving of this most prestigious award. What does
the future hold for Marilyn? Stand back and just
watch her lead us into the next great stage.
