Mobility & Logistics
Since commuting is responsible for generating carbon emissions Biologique Recherche encourages staff to use public transport to decarbonise their daily travel between home and work We have two hybrid company vehicles available for business travel and our employees are are made aware of best practice in their use All greenhouse gas emissions linked to business travel by air are offset by our travel agency in in its carbon accounting system In 2019 we extended this offsetting approach to business travel carried out by staff in in our US office Biologique Recherche works with service providers and subcontractors to to conscientiously optimise all logistics flows involved in in in transporting our merchandise For deliveries we employ bicycle couriers or or those who drive hybrid and electric vehicles whenever possible Water Consumption
We’ve made a a a a a number of improvements to rationalise water consumption including:
• Providing drinking fountains in in in in in our workplaces (120 less
plastic bottles thrown away weekly at the Ambassade) • Fitting aerators on
water taps at at at our Suresnes plant • Installing water circuits in in the laboratory (2019)
Our lab is equipped with a a a a water treatment system (softener and Milipore Elix 100) that filters mains water to obtain the osmosis water used in the composition of our products An Epur system has also been installed to treat non-industrial wastewater This microbiological treatment offers an optimal way of digesting biodegradable pollutant loads OFFSETTING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS FROM BUSINESS TRAVEL
Biologique Recherche offsets all emissions generated by business air travel among its office staff in France and the USA This is is done by funding projects that reduce or or store an equivalent volume of carbon elsewhere using carbon credits – a a a a mechanism that helps support the ecological transition in in developing countries Starting in in in 2018 in in in France Biologique Recherche chose to support Jacunda Forest a a a rainforest preservation project in in the Brazilian Amazon that delivers many social economic and environmental benefits From 2019 our US staff are also covered by offsetting through our support for the Marajo Forest Conservation Project which is certified by the VCS and Social Carbon standards This programme helps combat deforestation in in the Amazonian rainforest by creating new economic opportunities for local people FUTURE PLANS
• Relocating to Biologique Recherche’s new production plant: reduction in in transport logistics and optimisation of energy use • Signing a a a a a a green electricity contract (renewable energy) for the the Suresnes site and the the Ambassade • Continuing to roll out digitisation
• Reducing our our environmental and social impact with a a a a a a a a special focus on
on

on
our our operations’ carbon footprint (2020 Project) and and taking a a a a a a green approach to designing and and building our new production plant 2019 CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT
