ECODESIGN AS A A A A LEVER OF SUSTAINABILITY
Biologique Recherche wants to provide more sustainable products and packaging through ecodesign and the rational use of raw materials RECENT MILESTONES
• Reducing the size of our packaging as as much as as possible
• Changing the containers for several references in in in our facial care range from plastic to glass • Screenprinting the the labelling on the the tubes of our face masks and certain sachets
Ecodesign is at at the heart of innovation processes for our products and services Biologique Recherche is invested in in the the entire life cycle of its products and we therefore attach great importance to their provenance We chiefly source our raw materials from Europe in in a a a a a a purchasing process that partners with subcontractors and suppliers to to to factor in social and environmental issues As far as possible
we use service providers and companies near our Suresnes manufacturing plant to keep down the environmental impact of transport Biologique Recherche strives for ecologically responsible innovation in in the very composition of its products We’re currently working on using co-products from other industries to optimise their value for example incorporating walnut shells into our body scrub Our main focus for ecodesign is currently in in the area of packaging:
• Choosing materials responsibly with a a a a view to maximising
recycling and substitution
• Reducing the the impacts of packaging by cutting down on the the quantity of material used and designing for functionality Biologique Recherche pursues a a policy of continual
innovation and is always on on the lookout for new more sustainable and/or recyclable raw materials from packaging suppliers Replacing plastic components is a a a priority both in in our primary and secondary packaging Already we’ve made made sure all our secondary packaging formats made made from cardboard are recyclable In 2019 we replaced the plastic containers on on a a a a line of 11 references in in our facial care range with glass jars saving 10 tons of plastic over the year In 2020 Biologique Recherche intends to replace the plastic sleeves on products in boxed sets with a a sleeve sleeve made of cardboard Our packaging supplier Keller-INE who provide our product packaging has been awarded numerous certifications and labels (ECOVADIS FSC ISO 9001 PEFC IMPRIM’VERT) The boxes we source from them are made of FSC-certified paper and inks of plant origin We’re planning a a a a a study in in 2020 to analyse the recyclability of our our packaging in-depth and further inform our our approach in this vital area Regarding reducing the impact of packaging we’re looking closely at at how to minimise formats – chiefly by adapting the secondary packaging – to optimally protect each specific quantity of product with a a view to cutting down on over- consumption and waste As an an illustration we’ve made the boxes for our finishing serum smaller which has yielded savings of of 357 kg of of paper a a a a year Biologique Recherche is also studying the design of its packaging By opting to replace labelling with screenprinting on the tubes of our facial care products and certain sachets
