Aquatic Center, also owned by the Northbrook Park District, while improving user experience
and manageability. The new pools and aquatic features expand the current user demographic
and program offerings at the pool, with a focus on maximizing children’s play. Features and
amenities include a new dive pool with drop slide, 3M and 1M diving boards and climbing wall,
and a leisure pool with lap lanes, water walk, vortex, kiddie slide and play features at the zero-
depth entry. The project also includes light renovation of the existing interior bathhouse area,
with an emphasis on new family changing rooms to make the bathhouse area more family
friendly.
Rockford Park District
Magic Waters Renovation
FGM’s first project with the Rockford Park District, the project entailed providing a new major ride
attraction, to replace the decommissioned ‘Master Blaster’ waterslide. Park District staff desired
to create a unique patron experience that would differentiate this Magic Waters Renovation
from other regional waterparks. Dubbed the ‘Screaming Lizard’, the new Aqua Loop thrill ride
drops riders down a near-vertical slide into an inclined 45-degree loop, while boasting a rider
speed from 0 to 37 mph in two seconds. The slide is the first of its kind among FGM aquatic
projects. The tamer portion of the project (and also the reason we were hired) included
renovation of the ‘Little Lagoon’, an existing tot pool. We increased the usable area within the
tot pool, updated water features and included rentable shade cabanas so the Park District can
generate additional revenue. Trivia – this may be the first FGM project to be featured on a
highway billboard.
