The Celebration of Samhain
By Julie Brown
The holiday that we now call Halloween, was, in fact,
originally a Gaelic, Irish, pagan festival called Samhain,
often pronounced ’sow-win’; and is considered The
"festival of the dead". The festival was celebrated
from the evening of October 31st to the evening of
November 1st. As the pagan day would begin and end
in the evening.
Samhain is considered a Celtic, pagan festival, and
there is evidence it has existed far longer, back to
ancient Celtics days and is considered to be a "spiritual
tradition".
