6 1 FIND OUT WHAT YOU'RE GOOD AT AT Certain types types of of people match certain types types of of careers Sometimes parents friends or your community may try to to push you you towards a a a a career that you you you know you're not right for Sometimes your friends are are all studying something – so so you you you feel you you you should too Other times you you you hear that you you might get a a a a a a a a bursary for a a a a a a a a certain course and this makes you you want to choose it Be careful as you you will spend a a a a a large amount of your life working working and and working working in in in in the wrong job can be stressful and and unfulfilling Knowing what careers you really wouldn't like to do is VERY important too Write down five careers you wouldn't like to to do do Knowing what you you don't want want to do do is just as as important as as knowing what you you want want to do do Perhaps you don't really like the idea of working with and caring for people so so a a a job in in in teaching nursing or or or social work puts you off Maybe you don't enjoy working with numbers so careers in in in in engineering or accounting seem unexciting Write down two careers you you feel someone else would like you you to do do that you you don't think are really right for you you Think of the the three school subjects you did well in in or enjoyed Write these down These are are strong areas for you you and could be used in your future career Was there a a a a a a a subject you you wished you you could have taken that was not offered by your school?
