ENIVRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
The Environmental Services department is leading BWL forward in its commitment to responsible stewardship of our resources and our environment.
In 2019, new recycling, trash and compost bins were rolled out to all BWL facilities. In 2020, we continue to build awareness and educate employees on how to successfully participate in waste reduction efforts through the Know Before You Throw! Campaign. You may have noticed your Executive Director or our General Manager on the big screen
(the HPTV screens that is). As a company, we are committed to diverting usable materials
from the landfill and reducing our overall waste stream. All employees are asked to help us in these efforts! Here’s a few things you can do.
Recycle right!
• Put materials in the correct bin; recycling, composting or trash.
• Rinse and empty all plastic, glass and metal containers before recycling.
• Breakdowncardboard boxes.
• Keep contaminants out! Common items that are
NOT recyclable in our single-stream bins are used paper towel, straws, plastic sandwich bags, grocery bags, polystyrene (Styrofoam) and plastic utensils.
Reduce your use!
• Choose reusable over single- use disposables.
• Carry a water bottle and fill up at the tap.
• Decide what you want to take out prior to opening the refrigerator or freezer.
• Turn off the tap when not in use.
• Pack your own lunch using reusable containers.
