  ourselves taking on tasks
solo. Our safety manual also addresses that in rule 103.3 when it says “an employee who is working alone should plan the work carefully and review hazards prior to beginning work. If unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the specific job or situation, it should be discussed with
the Employee-in-Charge.” Whether working alone at home or at work, you should always plan jobs carefully and evaluate the hazards. If you
don’t think you can do the job safely or have questions, contact a supervisor at work or call a friend or professional for advice or service
when working at home.
Safety hazards are like children—they can be deceptive. They may look fine and safe, and like there’s no problem, they may look like baby football players; but after a closer look and
a little time, we can see them for what they really
are, safety consultants, or hazards. They should remind us that there’s no substitute for recognizing hazards and assessing risk. Whether it’s with your kids, as a kid, or as an adult at work. Many times recognizing hazards before the start of work can keep you out of sticky situations, streamline work and prevent injury. At a bare minimum,
it can prevent you from juggling baby, bottle, dog and diaper all at the same time.
