Message From Dr S Jothilingam
t was the summer of 1987 when a handful of old boys met in London to form
Ithe first Jaffna Hindu Old boys Association outside Sri Lanka. It is 25 years now
and we are celebrating our Silver Jubilee celebration without our first President late Mr
T.S.Perinpanathan and our first Treasurer late Mr S.Uthayalingam. Late President Peri
as he is popularly known sadly passed away in December 2011.
Uthayalingam popularly known as Ranjan predeceased him 20 years before (April
1991) under tragic circumstances. From the inception of forming the OBA (UK),
Ranjan worked tirelessly to decimate information about the OBA to fellow past
students.
He unfortunately didn’t survive to enjoy the fruits of the success achieved lately by our
association.
Dr S JothilingamOld
Past President
Peri’s vision was to serve the OBA to achieve various goals for the benefit of our school
back in Jaffna. With this in mind he took a leading roll as President to hold the first JHC (OBA)UK
public function on the 9th June 1990, the year our school celebrated the Centenary.
His presidential message at that occasion was to invite all the old boys and welf wishers
to make a collective worthwhile decision to achieve our goals to fulfil the needs of our
school. He worked tirelessly to bring about unity among the old boys some of whom I would like to conclude
that we the older
had diversified opinion. generation of Jaffna
Hindu boys should
“unite to love and love
I’m sure, he will be the happiest man in heaven if we all unite to carry on the Blue and to unite”.
white flag of our almamater.
One of our principal mentioned in his speeches “our school will be a place where the
student will learn to love and love to learn”.
I would like to conclude that we the older generation of Jaffna Hindu boys should
“unite to love and love to unite”.
