The defensive line saw Brendan Shanahan and Marty Coyne lead a strategy which allowed an average of only six points a game. Of equal importance in the backfield were Clark Bernales and Jim Flanagan who refused to allow any touchdown passes to be completed.
Perhaps the highlight of the Junior Varsity Gridders 4-2- 1 season came in their upset victory over previously un beaten Whitesboro. The quality of the squad was wit nessed at one point in a hard hitting game when the Brothers held Whitesboro at their own 2 yard line for 9
plays until they finally scored.
Such determination is certainly an indication of why the
varsity team relies so heavily on the training received by their Junior Varsity counterparts.
