VARSITY SOCCER Section III Champs Reach State Semifinals
Despite injuries, questionable officiating, and a mid-season slump, the CBA soccer team accomplished what no other Brothers’ soccer team could: namely, advance to state semifinals. Senior Co-captain and league leading scorer Paul Colella, exchange studentJon Thadarson, and Co-captain Shawn Jones led the Brothers to a win over rival Chittenango for the Section III Crown. To continue, the Brothers defeated two highly ranked teams before succumbing to perennial power Greece-Arcadia, but not before earning a respectable fourth in state ranking.
Seniors Matt Post and Matt Kanerviko, along with sophomore Todd Shanning provided support at midfield, while GeoffAumiller, Jon Colella, and Bray Kelly held their own on defense. Newcomers
Jamie Cote, Derek Loomis, and Paul Goggi also made an impres sion on the sensational season. Although several key players are gradu ating this year, the future still looks bright for varsity soccer.
