Umoja
The Unity of Cultures
"Umoja" is an African word that means unity. Christian
Brothers Academy's Multicultural Club is a good example
of this word.
Students of all different backgrounds come together to
share each rich heritage that they have to offer. Throughout
the year this group has held events that have broadened the
minds and opinions of many students at school.
Through the guidance and wisdom of the groups
moderator Mrs. Herndon-Lewis, the group sponsored a
very successful dance, an unparalleled Black History Month
assembly, a dress-down day, and a festival of nations
celebration.
In my five years at C.B.A. I have watched and helped to
cultivate this rich program. I am happy to say that this
program, through lots of hard work from many individuals,
has succeeded in its goal of increasing the knowledge of our
community.
C.B.A's Multicultural Club is bound for bigger and
brighter things in the future. The group has a core of
dedicated up-and-corners that believe, and achieve.
