An Extracurricular Record
After school CBA was bustling with activities. Sev eral students were busy, buzzing around like bees, trying to produce a yearbook, a newspaper, works of art, a literary magazine, and a musical. Everyone, it seemed, was involved with activities. Some were active in more than four activities at a time. Students would show their pride by enthusiastically getting in volved in an activity, which inspired an interest in the student’s heart. No matter what a student did, wheth er it was a yearbook, forensics, chorus, or ski club, the pride of CBA showed through.
More students were involved in activities during the school year, since enrollment was up. New students added fresh ideas and spirit to activities. Many used their talents by expressing themselves in Forensics, Purple and Gold, the Underground, Chorus, Band, and Drama. The activities at CBA, like sports, ex perienced a renewal and growth common to the 1990- 91 school year.
Most activities ran year round, with a few excep tions. One of the most active, the yearbook, ran until February while others, like the Drama Club started
in December and ended late in the year with a spec tacular performance. Many activities were busy and fast-paced, while others, like the Art Club, provided a worry free, relaxing atmosphere in which one could take time out from all the anxiety of school life.
Forensics members had a golden opportunity to practice their speaking talents in a wide variety of categories. Writers had several choices to have their works published in such known publications as the Purple And Gold, the Underground, and the Year book. Students with an interest in communication were also able to express their views in those publications. Those with artistic talent in regards to painting and drawing joined the Art Club. Others with acting ability joined the Drama Club for a chance for a spot in the limelight. Students with a musical talent had a choice between Chorus, Band and Jazz Ensemble, all three of which performed at live concerts twice a year.
The activities were full of exciting and fulfilling ac tion. Students, who were involved in one or more of the activities at CBA, showed enthusiasm and crea tivity in all their endeavors.
Drama helped bring out many tal ents in students. Here, Michael Smith rehearses a scene from the Spring Musical, Florello!
Mr. Caraher practices with the chorus to prepare the members for their next performance. He never failed to make sure that the chorus members sang in perfect harmony.
