Changes In Prose And Song
The Underground and the Chorus were two of the activities that underwent many changes in the 1990- 91 school year. These changes were achieved differ ently by both groups, but the re sults showed that with them the groups were better able to con tribute more to the CBA com munity.
The Underground had tradi tionally suffered from two prob lems, lack of school support and a serious lack of effective lead ership. Neither of those prob lems were an issue during the school year. Four editors, armed with a plethora of ideas, helped produce a worthwhile periodical as a result of the Alumni Direc-
tor, Ms. Tracic Baule, Moder ator Mrs. Bigelow, and above all, the quality of work submitted by the students. There were so many submissions that the edi tors were obliged to edit for length and clarity. Thanks to all the writers and artists, and es pecially Mrs. Bigelow and Ms. Baule for making our literary magazine possible
The Chorus came together in September, rehearsing for the annual Christmas Concert. They met Tuesdays and Thursdays af ter school every week with small group instruction during certain classes. Mr. Caraher, as the Chorus director, instructed them in voice control, sight reading,
and learning songs. By the time of the Concert, the Chorus was ready to sing their hearts out.
The second semester was to be different and new for the Cho rus and the rest of the school. A new schedule was enacted that allowed Chorus to meet in the mornings of A, C, and E days at 8:15 until school started at 9:00. With the new schedule, which limited each class to forty min utes, more people were able to enlist their talents into musical activities. The Chorus’s next ob jective was to practice for the Spring Concert at the end of the year.

Practicing with a large group of students can sometimes be distracting for every one. Mr. Caraher thinks it is time for some of them to check their music and make sure that they are on key.
One of the Chorus’s activities is to sing at school masses. Here they are singing at the Gospel Proclamation in the All Saints mass.
Chorus Director Mr. Carahcr has his troops warmed up and ready to croon at the beginning of the All Saints mass.
In a poetic pose, Underground contrib utor Kristen Johanns tries another form of expression while on a break from writ ing her submission.
