J.V. and Freshman Basketball
The J.V. Basketball team had a
truly exciting season. Victories, de­
feats, and good times sum up the
type of season the young team had.
Despite all the fun, there were dis­
appointments, a losing season, and
several players who became mem­
bers of the bench-warmers club.
Some players believed that team
spirit was lacking. Larry Pindle stat­
ed, "The team spirit was not as en­
thusiastic as it should have been due
to the lack of motivation caused by
early season losses."
As the season progressed, the
J.P. Pallone goes up for a high jump ball and
finds his opponent instead. Other players are
ready to pick up the ball.
games became more exciting. Al­
though many of the players claim that
certain games should not have been
lost, the team was able to beat arch­
rival Jamesville-Dewitt. Many of their
other wins were exciting, since they
were won in the last few seconds of
the game.
After having started playing bas­
ketball in 7th and 8th grade, many
players returned to play at the Fresh­
man level. Many players experi­
enced again the same joys and sor­
rows they had felt earlier as junior
Only 9th graders played at this
level, matching their skills against such
strong opponents as Nottingham and
J.D. The Freshman basketball team
played with spirit and enthusiasm, and
showed much promise for later com­
petition on higher levels.
The Freshman basketball team was
not less important than other bas­
ketball teams. The Frosh team ex­
perienced many similar times, and to­
gether learned the meaning of
sportsmanship.
