One of the most popular sports in
the Junior High was basketball. As
soon as the sign up sheet was post
ed, countless numbers of students
rushed to sign up. The 7th and the
8th grade basketball players dis
played their enthusiasm toward bas
ketball this season.
The 8th Grade Basketball Team
had excellent teamwork. This was due
to the fact that the players knew each
other well. During the hour and a half
practices, the coaches taught the
players the fundamentals of basket
ball. Their biggest opponent was
North Syracuse. But the team did not
allow that to dampen their spirits. In
a game against Fulton, they achieved
their highest score — 61.
The 7th Grade Basketball Team,
although the teammates hardly knew
each other, developed a good sense
of teamwork from the beginning. They
started rather well, winning the first
few games. They were strongest on
offense, but not quite as strong on
defense. The 7th graders found their
practices a bit difficult, but fun. Dur
ing these practices, their coach taught
the players how to shoot layups and
numerous plays. Their highest score
was 63 in a game against ESM, and
their toughest opponent was Fulton.
CBA's 7th and 8th Grade Bas
ketball Team had a great season. Both
teams finished with a 9 and 5 record,
and as the season came to end, the
players realized that they belonged
to a strong team.
David Viscome begins a break away for the
basket. Quick thinking and hard playing is what
keeps the Brothers winning.
