In the spring of 1994, the CBA forensics team ended the
season triumphantly: graduating senior Andrena Irvin emerged
champion of the entire National Catholic Forensics League in
her category, original oratory. She was the first competitor
from the Syracuse diocese to ever accomplish this feat.
Even without Irvin’s strength, this year’s team enjoyed rec
ord numbers and unprecedented success. They placed con
sistently in the regional meets (fifth place and above), including
several second places- - -second only to reigning champions
Albany High and Rochester’s Webster High.
By Christmas, four of the members had pre-qualified for
the Annual State-wide competition in Albany. CBA was also
fortunate enough to host the NCFL’s National Qualifiers.
The team’s triumphs were a product of the competitors’
skill and the tirelessly dedicated coaching efforts of Mr. Mor
etti. However, the group loses seven seniors this year- - -rough
ly half of the team. Next year, the remaining veterans and the
newcomers will have to work hard to maintain CBA’s position
of having the most successful forensics team in mid-state New
Forensics
York.
