The Purple Haze
Storming out of an inspiring season last year, the Brothers Varsity Football team
continued their success proving once again that the Brothers are great! With many
new players and a new quarterback, the team had its difficulties to face. However,
led by captains Frank Giufre, Kirk Gibson, and Jay Palladino, the team was able
to prevail. The team was also able to carry on despite the mid-season injury to
star running back Tim Brunson with the aid of Jamie Thornton who proved to
be more than able to fill Brunson’s spot.
In each game, the Brothers proved through spectacular defense and stunning
offense that they had the heart of warriors. As the fateful cry of Coach Ciciarelli
echoed through the locker room, "Saddle-up boys. It’s a war out there,” the team
huddled together as a family for a prayer. God was on the Brothers side as they
repeatedly obliterated teams on the road to a 7-1 record and a major state ranking.
Unfortunately, new league rules cheated the Brothers of their deserved glory.
Because of CBA’s burgeoning athletic program, the Brothers plan to continue
their success. Unfortunately, the football team will be losing its Blue-Chip, All
American lineman, Frank Giufre, who will be playing on the offensive line for
Syracuse University next year.
