This year’s hockey team, coached by Mike Gag liardi and Kevin Conroy, was somewhat of a surprise. The team suffered some big losses through last year’s graduates. The talent that remained and was
developed did a great job in the team’s defense of their Division I title. The team had strong perfor mances against Cazenovia and New Hartford and also put up a good third period effort against Bald- winsville, only to lose.
Scoring the bulk of the goals this season was Tom Downes. Also strong on the offense were Jim McNa
mee, Dave Lane, Bill Gleason, Mark Schneid and Rick Sylvester. Anchoring the defense were co-cap tains Mike Rhoem and Dan Bronk. Rounding out the defense were Tom Brogan, Jeff Bronk, Freshman Kevin Burdick and Don McClure. In the nets. Matt O’Conner and Chris Wood shared the duties.
It’s safe to say that this year’s team has a great chance of going to Lake Placid for the second con secutive year, and hopefully will repeat this perfor mance in the years to come.
