The 1987 Varsity Football seasaon had its ups and downs. The Brothers opened the year with a big win over East Syracuse- Minoa. By the third week the Brothers were 2-1 with their only loss to State ranked Homer. A t this point in the season the youth and inexperience combined with injuries to key players began to take its toll on the team ’s performance.
The Brothers, because o f these factors, lost their five games. This was a major blow to the morale ofthefootballprogram. Even though the team as a whole had a disappointing season, the Brothers hadfive All-League selections plus a number of honorable mentions.
Chris Nelson and John Haas combined to be one of the league’s leading passing combinations, while captains, Joe Ador nato and Ken Fifield led the young offen sive and defensive lines. Other key players included running backs Peter Caroli, Dar ryl Gladden and Todd Eudell and linemen Ed Diamantis, Reggie Zayas, Tom Quilter and John Giamartino.
With more than 20 Juniors returning, the Brothers are hoping to make a Dome appearance in Section HI playoffs in 1988.
