How to Get Your Concealed Carry Permit
The process for obtaining a concealed weapons permit in Florida is surprisingly simple. As long as you meet a few minimum requirements, the state is required to issue you a permit. However, there are some individuals who are prohibited from obtaining a permit under the law.
Who is Allowed to Have a Permit?
To apply for a concealed weapons permit, the applicant must:
1. Demonstrate competency with a firearm.
2. Be 21 years of age or older. Some exceptions apply.
3. Be a U.S. citizen, naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien
Demonstrating Competency with a Firearm
You must also demonstrate competency with a firearm. You can complete this requirement in a number of ways. First, you could attend a hunter safety course approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation. Second, complete an NRA firearms safety or training course. Third, attend a firearms safety course taught by an NRA-certified instructor. The final option is to provide evidence of military service.
You can find an approved concealed carry course by performing a Google search, or you can attend a hybrid concealed carry course taught by yours truly. We make getting your concealed carry permit easy by allowing you to complete the lecture portion of the class online and then coming in to complete the live firearm portion of the class.
