From Our Regional Facilities Coordinator
Hello Region 1 Members ~
Well Spring 2020 certainly hasn’t turned out the way we expected. Many plans were in place for your
Convention Weekend, and your competition team was looking forward to another fabulous gathering full
of music and fellowship. I want to thank Coastline Show Chorus, VOCE, the RMT and my Steering
Committee for all of the work they had already put into the preparations.
While I know we are all frustrated and concerned with the pandemic situation, let’s not miss out on the
chance to look forward to what will come once we get past this extraordinary time. If you watched SAI
President Patty Cobb Baker’s video message that came out on 3/20, you heard they have plans in place
for a video competition, however, they will not roll out the plan until it is safe for people to gather
together. At this time, they are still planning to hold International Competition, so quartets, at least, will
need to compete before then. They have not shared the details of their plan with the RMTs and
Competition Teams, but as soon as they do, we will jump into action to make it happen!

In the meantime, we are still planning to hold RQA Day on Saturday, August 1 with Peggy Gram.
Remember, this is not just for people in quartets. It is for anyone who would like to continue their
personal growth! We also have Fall Regional to look forward to the weekend of September 25-27 at the
Sheraton in Framingham. Our host chorus is Boston Skyline, and their theme is Yo Ho Ho Harmony!
This will be a fantastic weekend with Guest Faculty Jennie Morton who will help you improve your stage
presence. She wowed the crowd at the SAI Directors and Visual Leaders Seminar last summer, and we
know you will all love her. You can see a terrific video greeting from her on the region’s Facebook page:

Until we can be together again, please follow the health guidelines being provided in your area, and keep
yourselves and families healthy.
My warm wishes and blessings to you all,
