WRITING TIP
The passive is very common (or even preferred) in scientific or technical
writing (lab results, reports, etc.). The focus is not on the person, but on the details
of the process or the results. The passive makes it easy to focus on this. The
present and present perfect passive are two very common tenses in this type of
writing. Some passive verbs common in writing are collected, considered, done,
found, given, made, measured, seen, shown, tested, and used.
