WRITING TIP
As you have learned, sentence variety (changing the length and structure
of your sentences) makes your writing more interesting. Remember that always
using if to express hypothetical situations can become repetitious. As you saw in
the reading passage, there are other words and expressions you can use to
introduce hypothetical situations: without, suppose, imagine, how would. Or, as
you have learned in the previous lesson, you can sometimes omit if and invert the
subject and verb.
