scraper to make 1½-inch square biscuits. Discard the scraps.
                    To use, tuck the biscuits close together on the surface of the pie.

                Bake the biscuits at the highest temperature the pie will withstand (at
                least  400°F  but  as  high  as  450°F)  for  the  last  8  to  10  minutes  of
                baking, until layered with pale golden brown. Brush the tops with the
                melted butter as soon as the pie comes out of the oven.
