Celebration Cupcakes
When writing a cookbook, you often have to make recipes when they aren’t
necessarily in season. Let’s just say that in a four-week period my family
celebrated a year’s worth of holidays, from Valentine’s Day through Christmas.
It was exhilarating and festive, but somewhat discombobulating.
Finding St. Patrick’s Day cupcake liners in June is not easy. And there was
something not quite right about serving snowmen in summer, either. The Easter
Basket Cupcakes? Well, I know that I’m baking them again this spring. And the
Halloween Spider Cupcakes are at the top of my list for fall.
This chapter includes some of the most fun recipes in this book. They are
guaranteed to make you smile while honoring the holiday and setting the party
scene. The cupcakes underneath the decorations are moist and true to the
Cupcake Doctor’s high standards!
With this chapter, I conquered my long-standing fear of decorating. I can bake
a pretty cake, but decorating it? For me, this chapter was a feat. I don’t normally
roam supermarket aisles in search of the right green candy for a pumpkin cake
stem, but I did here. I don’t rack my brain figuring out how to make an edible
Pilgrim’s hat, either, but I did here.
