• Neurosurgery volumes have grown by

3% in Ontario; volumes at SMH have
decreased by 1%.

• SMH makes up 12% of Ontario
market share.

• As a proportion of inpatient volumes,
neurosurgery makes up 1% of SMH
activity.

• This service includes 56% urgent admissions, 44% elective admissions.

• Top volumes are derived from Central East LHIN patients, followed by Central then TC.

• 60% of patients are discharged home. SMH has ~25% of patients being discharged to an Acute or
Continuing Care facility*. When patients are discharged to another institution, SMH refers most frequently
to Bridgepoint (32%).

• Providence is referred a minimal number of patients (~5%).
