Dear Friends and Colleagues in the transit community,
We are pleased to present the 2015 NEPTA Buyer’s Guide & Yearbook. It is with pleasure that we reflect on the past year, as we focus on new programs in 2015. The success of NEPTA is a result of the strong membership support and the devoted leadership from the NEPTA Board of Directors, as well as the support from the event participants and sponsors.
The mission and goal of NEPTA is to provide education and training opportunities to its core constituency. NEPTA joined forces once again with Mary Beth Mello, FTA Regional Administrator, Region 1 and FTA staff for 2015’s Biennial Conference and Expo. The March event was a success as both attendees and vendors provided extremely positivefeedbackregardingthetwo-dayeventinHartford. Thekick- off began with a “Rising Star Breakfast” featuring the Commissioner of the CT Department of Transportation James P. Redeker followed bythe FTA plenary session which offered a variety of expert panelists who stimulated the audience with relevant and interesting topics.
This year’s conference, titled “Transit of Tomorrow”, focused on technology and safety in our industry. The keynote luncheon speaker Matt George, CEO of Bridj shared his vision of a data-driven transit service that meets the demands of citizens in neighborhoods lacking reliable public transportation. On the 2nd day of the conference, the FTA staff presented their “Innovative Technology Transit Challenge Awards” to various well deserving transit organizations. The conference ended with a historic ride on CTfastrak where approximately 125 attendees enjoyed the tour provided by the CT Department of Transportation.
Coming soon on Tuesday, June 16th,NEPTA will return to the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Massachusetts to host our annual scholarship golf tournament. In addition to playing a round of golf on this beautiful course, participants will be supporting NEPTA programs that provide opportunities for educational advancement in the transportation industry.
