heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the
dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
But how can we freely receive when we are bound by the law of
giving? Thus saying we must give according to the law before
we can receive. We have a better covenant, the other was under
a Levitical priesthood and there had to be a changing of the law.
Now the priesthood we are under is after the order of
Melchizedec, a priesthood of grace and power of an endless life.
Seeing also the former priesthood was weak in that it limited its
membership only to the house of Aaron. Under this new law we
all are made priests, who are now in the linage of Christ. So now
first we must freely receive all that is provided by the works of
Christ, then we will have sufficiency to give that which is
needed.
Luke 22:35-36 And he said unto them, When I sent you without
purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said,
Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse,
let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword,
let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Jesus provided everything his disciples needed for ministry and
to provide for their families, before he went to the cross he let
them know that they were on their own. Their faith would now
be required of them.
