LET'S PRETEND

Luke 7:32 They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace,

and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you,

and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have

not wept.

Jesus said that the religious people of his day were playing" lets

pretend" we played our songs and you would not dance and

when we pretended to cry, you would not grieve with us. Jesus

said that they were pretenders like children complaining that the

people would not play with them. They would not join them in

their groups of pretenders.

The Pharisees had their group and the Sadducee theirs, the

Lawyers, priests and Rabbi's everyone had their little group of

pretenders. They had their separate religious and political ideas.

Acts 23:8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection,

neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

Yes they all had their denominational beliefs just like today.

And they were politically motivated people because their

government and religion was one institution. The Sadducee was

"sad you see" in their beliefs. They only believed in the flesh,

they were atheistic but believed in a supreme being.

Like the democratic party of our day many confessing they

believe in God, but do not believe in spiritual things. They only

serve the flesh and the lust of the flesh. They do not believe in
