8.1 POPULARITY OF GOLF
Scandinavia is one of Europe´s four largest golf markets. In fact, it is one of the most popular activities for all age groups in this region. One of the biggest advantages is also a low population density, which means plenty of space for hundreds of golf courses. The Nordic region has a great advantage of having
a lot more hours of daylight than further in the south of Europe. It is quite an experience to play golf at 10 o’clock on a summer evening when the sun is still up. Golf in Scandinavia is becoming increasingly popular not only for the locals but also for international golfers from the rest of Europe. The region offers numerous golf clubs and golf courses. However, only very few resorts have not one, but two golf courses. The fact, that Skjoldenæsholm can offer two different golf courses, makes it very special and different in the Scandina- vian golf market which is de nitely one of its great advantages.
