7. BUSINESS OVERVIEW
7.4 COMPETITION
· Skjoldenæsholm Golf Resort has been invited to be a member of the WORLD OF LEADING GOLF.
· There is only one other golf course apart from Skjoldenæsholm located on Zealand which has 36 holes.
· Skjoldenæsholm is one of the three places in Denmark, which have been designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. architects.
· Even though golf as such is a very popular sport in Denmark, Skjold- enæsholm Golf Resort rarely faces a direct competition.
Skjoldenæsholm Castle, which is located on site of the golf resort, functions as a hotel and offers accomodation for golfers. The golf resort’s competitive strengths can offer a unique experience for golfers of all categories. A beau- tiful nature environment combined with a perfect landscape for playing golf, is something that other golf courses located nearby the cities cannot offer. Skjoldenæsholm currently enjoys a number of advantages compared to its main competitors. The current setting and layout of the golf courses makes it suitable for both skilled professionals, as well as for the beginners starting in the Golf Academy. The resort can offer a variety of other facilities such as restaurant, bar, ballroom and a Pro Shop.
7.5 BUSINESS GROWTH
Historically, Skjoldenæsholm Golf Resort has gone through several changes regarding its ownership. There have been several investments made in the golf resort over the past 25 years accounting to approximately 130 million kroner (17,5 mil €). This includes building of a large clubhouse when the golf resort opened in 1992, as well as construction of the additional buildings throughout the property, an academy building from 2007 and a new driving range together
with Robert Trent Jones Jr. Championship Course.
