Project Purpose
The Region of Waterloo is projected to experience significant population and employment growth over the next two decades – a growth of more than 200,000 residents and 80,000 jobs by 2031.
Example # 3 shows the logo in conjunction with the heading on a report cover. In this design the logo is shown on the left of the heading with the heading set flush left/rag right instead of the conventional centred format. Too often the centred style leaves little room for anything other than a small logo to be centred above it.
Example #4 and 5 are examples of official documents which best exemplify creative expression.
Note: Do not crowd logo in an upper right or left location close to the page margin.

WATERLOO REGION PLANNING OUR FUTURE
COMMUNITY
Many reports and documents will be produced in-house by various Regional Departments, Divisions and Agencies. These documents must include the new Regional symbol and adhere as closely as possible to guidelines regarding secondary typefaces and proportions. This does not limit the use of other typefaces for headings and body text and allows for creative expression and difference.
Note: For official documents, do not use faddish or gimmicky typefaces. These have a very limited appeal and can visually downgrade the importance of the material.
Shown here are some examples of suggested report cover designs.
If the typeface Univers Condensed Light is not available to the department then Arial Narrow may be used to identify the department.
Example #1 uses the typeface ’Times New Roman’ for the main heading and the recommended corporate secondary typeface ’Univers 47 Light Condensed’ for the departmental identification.
Example #2 shows a possible window cover using a serif face such as Palatino for the primary heading.
