THE FIERY FURNACE
King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold. He summoned the prefects,
governors, advisors, treasurers and judges to come to see it. When the
flute, horn, harp and all kinds of music played they were all to fall down
and worship it. There were some Jews called Shadrach, Meshach and
Abednego who would not bow down to the image. Nebuchadnezzar was
furious and said, “Is it true that you will not bow down to my gods? If
you do not obey you will be thrown into a fiery furnace. What god will be
able to rescue you then?”
The three men would not obey. Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown into
the fiery furnace. However, God protected them and even when the
furnace was heated to seven times its normal temperature they weren’t
burned. “Look, I see four men in the furnace!” yelled the King. He told
the men to come out. The King knew that an angel had protected them.
