Here are the Cuisenaire Rods, drawn half-scale, with their colours and lengths.
white 1 cm
orange 10cm
blue 9cm
tan 8cm
yellow 5cm
black 7cm red 2cm
pink 4cm
dark green 6cm
light green 3cm
Work out the answers to these problems without using real rods.
Write down what you do to show your teacher.
Afterwards, check with rods and a metre rule, if you want.
Find the total length these will make, fitted end to end.
a 3 red and 4 black rods b 5 pink and 2 blue rods
c 8 tan rods and 5 light green rods d 6 orange and 5 dark green rods
e 9 yellow and 5 blue rods f 8 black and 4 blue rods
g 9 light green and 8 dark green rods h 7 yellow and 7 pink rods
Each set of these rods, fitted end to end, will equal 64 cm.
