Turn of the Tide Tarot
Your monthly Guide
So, February heralds Valentines Day and (I suppose inevitably)
this is reflected in the cards this month. But apart from the hope-
ful deluge of cards, flowers and chocolates, what is Valentines Day
really? Originally, it was celebrated in roman times from 13th - 15th
February and was a Pagan fertility festival known as Lupercalia. A
charming ritual of the festival was for everyone to strip off and chase
young women round the streets to spank them (!) which supposedly
improved their fertility. Then a couple of Christian priests both by
the name of Valentine got ended on the 14th and the Church adopted
it to remember their new Saints. The religious festival didn’t become
a popular romantic occasion until late 1300’s when poet Geoffrey
Chaucer wrote a poem about St. Valentine’s Day love to celebrate
the engagement of King Richard II, and then of course Shakespeare
took it on and the rest, as they say, is history!
So what do the cards reveal for you on this festival of love and ro-
mance? The cards this month were taken from the Angels of Atlantis
deck by Stewart Pearce. As usual, click on the one you feel most
drawn to and your reading is revealed. Enjoy xx
