Lesson 01

                 Use, Occupancy, and Construction

               Height and Area

Building heights and areas are limited according to the occupancy use and
construction type of the structure. Basements do not contribute to the total
stories when determining allowable building height. When two or more buildings

are located on the same lot, their height and area are determined individually or as
portions of one building, if each building’s height and the buildings’ aggregate
building area are within the limits established in the following table. This table
contains the maximum height permissible for a structure according to its use and
               occupancy classification.

The following is taken verbatim from the 2014 Florida Building Code, Section 503, “General
                Building Height and Area Limitations.”
