Ferris State University Students Write Stories about Samaritas Seniors
Last semester, a very special bond was formed with
Samaritas Senior Living of Traverse City residents and
students from Ferris State University. The students were
a part of a Social Work class, and the assignment was to
interview a senior over a several week period, and write a
book about their life story.
We hooked the residents up with iPads, and set up
a virtual meeting schedule with their students. The
partnership took off from there. Several special bonds
were formed from the project. Many of the residents
expressed how much it meant to them to get to know
someone from a younger generation, and students felt
the same way getting to know someone from an older
generation.
