MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTION SERVICES

One woman’s courageous journey with substance use disorders.

"I lost my home, my vehicle…and eventually my daughter. I left my job of almost
seven years. I made a pact with my daughter. Right before she passed. That I’d be off
of pain pills and I still haven't gone back to them. But then I started substituting with
alcohol. I had been living in my car for a little over two years.

The Samaritas program is the only thing that's been ongoing and stable in my life.
Keeping up with Samaritas has been the best thing.

If you just have that one good day, or that one good hour, take advantage of that and
reach out because once you get your foot in the door--you're in. It's not going to be
easy. You're gonna want to run and give up. But it's worth it because there are people
that do care and will let you know that you do matter.”

It was a joy to welcome friends and neighbors to visit our new location
at the First Ward Community Center located at 1410 N 12th Street in
Saginaw. Guests learned the impact of current initiatives and how
together we are making a difference for our community!
