                                                           Meanwhile, Barrie Goodchild, Celia Graham
& Ivan Lunn got the better of David Cottrell, 17
Tessa Shere & Peter Hardy by 7 shots to 4.
By an identical score, the last game of the round
went to Sandra Odams, Frances & Alan Riley, who
defeated John Young, John Underhill & David
                                                           Collins.
In the Semi-finals, Barrie Goodchild, Celia Gra-
ham & Ivan Lunn came from 2 - 7 down to beat San-
dra Odams, Frances & Alan Riley 10 - 7 in just the
                                                           three remaining ends.
The other semi was a rather one-sided affair.
Try as they might, Trevor Shopland, Doug Campbell
& Brian Hawkins could not stop Gordon Lucas,
Seated Triples winners Michael & Anthea Bell from reaching the final by 12
Barrie Goodchild, Celia Graham - 3. As expected, the final was a very hard-fought af-
& Ivan Lunn, with finalists fair but in the end, a 7- 4 scoreline gave Barrie Good-
Gordon Lucas, Anthea & child, Celia Graham & Ivan Lunn a hard earned
                           Michael Bell victory.

The Pairs Quarter finals saw Barrie Goodchild in ac-
tion once again with pairs partner Richard Williams and the
defeated Sandra Odams & Steven Hasker 7 - 3. Trevor
             Shopland & Tessa Shere had a Comfortable 11 - 5 lead but
Dot & Gordon Lucas scored a 2 and a four to draw the
match and force a sudden death extra end but this was won
             by Tessa & Trevor.
                   Michael & Anthea Bell progressed thanks to a 9 - 2
victory over Keith & Pauline Jacobs. The last game saw An-
             gela & David Buck defeat Helene & Ron Tipper 10 - 5.
in their semi-final Angela & David met in-form Michael
& Anthea Bell and went down 8 - 4. In the other semi, it was
all-square at 7 all with Tessa Shere & Trevor Shopland fac-
ing Richard Williams & Barrie Goodchild but a three and a Seated Pairs winners
two gave Richard & Barrie a 12 - 7 victory. In the final Michael & Anthea Bell
Michael & Anthea kept up their good form and duly defeated with Barrie Goodchild
Richard & Barrie. & Richard Williams

SHORT MAT BOWLS AT WARNER HOLIDAYS
Bob & Yvonne Weafer (Breakaway Leisure), no longer organise Short Mat Bowls holidays
at any Warner site but this is not of our choosing, despite a 25 year unblemished record,
it is at the request of Warner Holidays. Last year we had a very bad time at Warners Gun-
ton Hall. We all arrived and found we were banned from using the main Bowls hall en-
trance with no prior notice. Later in the week we could not use the alternative entrance
owing to a Darts Contest blocking the way and thus we technically had no entrance what-
soever other than using the main entrance and risk the wrath of a Warner employee who
             had been harassing my guests.
In addition, Warners had closed off the Wheelchair ramp in the bowls hall to the in-
convenience of one of my guests. To cap it all, one bowler (Tony Drew), missed his quarter
final through his own fault and decided to blame me and struck me. I returned the com-
pliment to make sure he didn’t do it again. Amazingly, even though I was not at fault at
all, Warners blamed me! However we still organise at the number one site in the UK at
Potters Resort, plus The Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish Warren and TLH in Torquay.
