A PLACE DESIGNED FOR SHELTERING CANCER PATIENTS ...

While the physical treatment is widely available, the psy-
chological effect of cancer is almost forgotten. Therefore
the center will provide and support the physical cure by
acting as a ‘shelter’ to embrace cancer patients and their
families to reduce the stress caused by the treatment
process. Additionally, the scheme will act as a research
center to spread awareness among the society where
the caution is the best medicine. In the center, patients
and their families will get support before, during and af-
ter the treatment process to make sure that the physical
therapy will get the maximum success rate. One of the
project strategies is to make the place looks like the out-
side world and to give the patients the hope and that
they are no different from the others, one way for caus-
ing this to happen is by involving the patients into activ-
ities and make them cooperate with each other. Another
area of focus is to ensure as much ‘controlled’ daylight to
be admitted to the building’s interior spaces as possible.
. The second part of the project is the research center,
which hopefully will provide in return a lead and a clear
path towards the end of this disease and contribute to
the process of eliminating it. The entire project will work
as a ‘supplement’ to the oncology hospitals and clinics
as well as an appropriate research facility to enhance our
perception of such diseases.
