MRI (specify the body part)
*Specify if with, with/without, without contrast.
Creatinine lab values will be required prior to an MRI scan with IV contrast if the patient is diabetic, has a history of renal disease or cancer, or if the patient is 70 years old or older. These values also will be required if the patient is scheduled for an MRI of the breast, an MRI of the abdomen, or any MRA exam from the neck down. Creatinine levels must be taken within 30 days prior to the scan.
PATIENTS WITH PACEMAKERS ARE NOT SAFE FOR MRI IMAGING. Most institutions have MRI checklists for contraindications (ie pacemakers).
