Patient Prep
Aorta and Abdominal (Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder, Spleen):
Patient is to have nothing by mouth after midnight the evening before the exam.
Kidneys: Finish drinking 32 oz. of water one hour prior to exam. Don’t empty bladder until exam is complete.
OB (2nd & 3rd Trimester, after 11 weeks): Patient is to drink 32 oz.
of water, 45 minutes prior to exam. Don’t empty the bladder until exam is done. 1st Trimester (up to 11 weeks) – Order a transvaginal ultrasound, no prep needed.
Pelvis: Patients under 17 years;  nish drinking 32 oz. of water one hour prior to exam. Don’t empty bladder until the exam is done. For other patients a transvaginal ultrasound will be done, no prep needed.
