MRI (South eld):
• M-F: 6:30 am-9:30 pm • Sat: 6:30 am-6:30 pm • Sun: 9:00 am-3:00 pm • Holidays: On call
MRI (Novi):
• Mon-Sun: 5:00 am-11:00 pm • Holidays: On call
Indications for urgent/emergent MRI scan:
• Spinal cord compression
• Epidural abscess/hematoma
• Stroke
• Appendicitis in pregnant patient
Nuclear Medicine (South eld):
• M-F: 7:00 am-3:30 pm • Sat: 7:00 am-2:30 pm
• Sun: 7:00 am-11:00 am
Nuclear Medicine (Novi):
• M-W, F: 7:00 am-4:00 pm • Thurs, Sat, Sun, Holiday:
On call
NM On call schedule:
• Nuclear medicine orders placed between 7:00 pm-7:00 am will be performed the following morning.
• Studies ordered by 7:00 am on Sat or Sun will be performed that same morning.
• If NM study order placed between 4:00 pm-7:00 pm during weekdays, and ordered as urgent then procedure will be performed that night. But, ordering doc must speak to radiology resident rst.
VQ Scan ordered stat:
• Why not CT PE protocol?
• Can they received premedication (If Cr>1.5 or +DM) HIDA:
• Is patient NPO (i.e., last meal >4 hrs ago)?
• Has the patient had opiates in last 6 hours? If yes, then have to
wait because false positive rate.
• NB: Prolonged TPN can cause false positive as well.
GI Bleed:
• Is the GI doc involved? Get name of attending.
• Actively bleeding? If no, then scan is not indicated.
• Stable? If not, ANGIO or OR.
• CT Angio instead? Must do this if NM GIB study ordered after 7:00
pm.
Ultrasound (South eld)
• Sun-Thurs: In house tech 24 hrs
• Fri, Sat: 7:00 am-11:00 pm • Holiday: On call
Ultrasound (Novi)
• Mon-Fri: 7:00 am-12:00 am • Sat, Sun, Holidays: 7:00 am-
3:30 pm
Indications for on call US study:
• Ovarian/testicular torsion
• Ectopic pregnancy: ensure that bHCG is positive and no known
IUP!
• DVT is not an indication.
