Tax Preparer with 3+ years tax preparation experience.
he 6-hour 2018 Annual Federal Tax Refresher is intended to recognize
and encourage unenrolled tax return preparers to voluntarily increase
their knowledge and improve their filing season competency through
continuing education. This course is designed to follow 3 domains that
are set by the IRS. This course qualifies for the 6-hour AFTR course. To
receive continuing education credit, this course must be completed by
December 31, 2017.
The return preparer must also renew their preparer tax identification
number (PTIN) for the upcoming year and consent to adhere to the
obligations in Circular 230, Subpart B and section 10.51.
Upon completion of these requirements, the return preparer receives an
Annual Federal Tax Refresher – Record of Completion from the IRS.
2018 Annual Federal Tax Refresher participants are NOT included in a
public database of return preparers on the IRS website.
The 2018 Annual Federal Tax Refresher has been approved by the IRS for
6 hours of continuing education and discusses new tax law and recent
updates for the upcoming filing season, provides a general tax review,
and examines important rules governing tax return preparer ethics,
practices and procedures. There are three separate domains in this
course and the student must pass a 100-question final exam with a 70% or
greater. Once you have completed the course you will need to print your
certificate which is suitable for framing. Once you have printed your
certificate we will upload your continuing education hours to IRS within
72 business hours.
The student does not have to have any tax knowledge to take this course.
